چکیده
Extensive research has highlighted how one's attachment style influences the development and maintenance of romantic relationships. Disgust is a construct that conceptually overlaps with given both include elements behavioral avoidance. However, no previous study examined may influence disgust-based avoidance intimacy in Therefore, aim current to determine if adult associated olfactory disgust ratings towards eight body odor (BO) sources from their partner, or others. The results revealed partner's BO differed depending on style. Specifically, participants dismissing-avoidant rated as more disgusting than secure, fearful-avoidant, preoccupied styles. Moreover, strangers' equally whereas those other groups partner's.

Functional neuronal processing of body odors differs from that of similar common odors.
Visual and auditory stimuli of high social and ecological importance are processed in the brain by specialized neuronal networks. To date, this has not been demonstrated for olfactory stimuli. By means of positron emission tomography, we sought to elucidate the neuronal substrates behind body odor perception to answer the question of whether the central processing of body odors differs from per...
متن کاملBody odour disgust sensitivity predicts authoritarian attitudes
Authoritarianism has resurfaced as a research topic in political psychology, as it appears relevant to explain current political trends. Authoritarian attitudes have been consistently linked to feelings of disgust, an emotion that is thought to have evolved to protect the organism from contamination. We hypothesized that body odour disgust sensitivity (BODS) might be associated with authoritari...
متن کاملDomain-specific variation in disgust sensitivity across the menstrual cycle
Disgust operates in many domains of behavior. On the presumption that facets of this emotion evince adaptive design, we conducted a cross-sectional study of 307 women, investigating changes in disgust sensitivity across the menstrual cycle. Two hypotheses were tested, namely (i) sexual disgust is an adaptation that serves to reduce participation in biologically suboptimal sexual behaviors, and ...

متن کاملDo Valenced Odors and Trait Body Odor Disgust Affect Evaluation of Emotion in Dynamic Faces?
Disgust is a core emotion evolved to detect and avoid the ingestion of poisonous food as well as the contact with pathogens and other harmful agents. Previous research has shown that multisensory presentation of olfactory and visual information may strengthen the processing of disgust-relevant information. However, it is not known whether these findings extend to dynamic facial stimuli that cha...
